Back in 1991, my life became part of the public eye when my mom, Wanda Holloway, was arrested for solicitation of capital murder. The story was so bizarre that it ended up in the news in 33 countries, two movies were made, and a book was published.
A couple of years ago, (31 years after the fact) I agreed to participate in a documentary regarding the events that took place back in 1991 - not because I wanted to relive the events for fun, because trust me, none of this has been fun, but to open the door for me to tell my side of the experience - the emotional traumas I went through that affected my life so much so that at one point I begged God to please take me "home" because I didn't want to be here anymore.
I'm told the documentary is slated to air on Discovery in May 2024, and it will fill you in on the details of that trying time in my life. However I'm more interested in sharing with you how damaging that event was for me mentally, physically, and emotionally in later years, so that I can help others who may be going through similar situations. I am not a doctor, counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist; however, I am a teacher by trade with a bachelor's degree in Literature and Secondary Education, and I know first hand how hard it can be to get out of that loop of negativity once it swallows you. I was stuck in that loop for 10+ years and didn't know what to do to get out of it, and I know there are others out there struggling with this same problem, and I don't want you to struggle. I want to help you learn to change the way you think, like I did, so that you can get out of that loop of negativity sooner than later. Don't waste 10+ years of your life stuck in that loop - your life is too precious and too short.
I decided to create the website, SmileMoreWorryLess.com, so that I could reach out to others who struggle with anxiety and depression. I started creating online, self-help, self-paced courses to walk others through the processes I went through to help myself get to a place where I could finally smile more and worry less. The first course I created is titled "Know Yourself", and I am currently working on the second course, "Thoughts and Feelings".
